Aroma y Paz

WHAT IS THE PALO SANTO?

Also known as sacred wood or Brusera Graveolena is a plant that grows in the dry forests of Piura in Peru, its wood is characterized by having an intense aroma with a touch of citrus, this due to the presence of limonene, a natural substance that is extracted of the citrus peel providing said aroma, which when burned helps the feeling of harmony, peace and tranquility.

However, what characterizes Palo Santo is that its properties begin to appear when the tree dries up and dies. This is due to the amount of resin that the palo santo tree accumulates throughout its life cycle, this contributes to its sustainability and prevents deforestation, since the aroma of the wood of a tree that did not complete its cycle does not give off the same aroma.

In Peru, ancient stories narrate how the Incas used it in rituals to connect spiritually with their ancestors, attract good luck, and ward off curses and negative energies. Beliefs and customs that persist today.

Its aroma is characterized by being sweet, deep and with an aged citrus that floods the spaces in which it is released, taking over them.

How to use it?

The traditional way of using the palo santo is by lighting a piece of the sacred wood, positioning the wood at an angle of inclination of 45 degrees (with due precautions) and once the black smoke turns white, we shake the piece until the flame goes extinct and we spread it around the rooms that we want to clean and fill with good energy.

We must bear in mind that palo santo wood is resistant and will take a few seconds to burn. It is normal to have to turn the trunk back on from time to time if it goes out, you can turn it back on and continue eliminating negative energies. If you want the palo santo to act on you, hold it in your hand and run it over your own body, keeping the necessary distance so as not to burn yourself.
